  • Cannot Create or Amend Scheduled Task in W2003

    Hi folks,
I've got a strange one. I cannot create or amend a Scheduled Task in Windows server 2003, even when logged in as the local Administrator. When trying to amend an existing task, I get an 'access denied' message and when trying to create a new task, nothing happens at all. The wizard doesn't even open. I've seen a few references to this on the web, but it's always one of those 'Pay us 50 quid and we'll help you' sites.
Any info would be very gratefully received.
    Thanks a million,
    Scott

    50 ??? that's daylight robbery. I'll do it for 20

Jokes aside, Have you checked if the Task scheduler service is running? and if so under what account ?

Also check the Schedlgu.txt log file in the C:\Windows folder.

    More info: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308558

    Cheers

Also check if this key exists in your registry
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\Task Scheduler5.0

If so have a look at this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305612 sounds likely that all the Dword values would be set to 1 prohibiting you from running the task at all.

Are there any existing Tasks in the tasks folder? can you run them or are there properties greyed out?
