  • Defrag the Physical Exchange Hard Disk

    Hiiii everyone

    I have one new dude.

I have a Server whit Win 2k3 and Exchange 2003 , this server have 2 raid arranges the first arrange is the System arrange (C unit), the second arrange is where i put the Exchange databases and the logs (D unit) .

    My questions are :

I can defrag the C unit, whit no problems , but my D unit, need be defrag too . Exist the risk that when in the proccess of the defrag could give me an error or damage the Exchange databases??. And when start to defrag the my D unit, need first unmount the Stores or is not neccesary ??

    Thanks all!
Is there a way to do this better than this?

    Defrag

Due the fact that only files that change are: *.edb *.log files, there no need to defrag the disk with regular windows defrag utility.
However, itís recommended to defrag 6-12 months the stores it self by using eseutil /d command.
