  • Time server needed- only one server on the Internet

    All:

I run a disconnected development network which has only one machine (Server 2003 member server) on the Internet. Is there a way to make that
server a time source for the domain controller? As I understand it the PDC Emulator is the source for clients.

Would like this scenario: Server on Internet gets time from reliable (Inet) source, PDC emulator gets it's time from that server, all of domain syncs with PDC emulator.

Sound reasonable and doable? Read that the "external time source" can't be on the domain, hence why I am asking these questions.

No, that article I know about. PDC emulator is NOT on the Internet. A member server is on the Internet.

How can I get proper time?

I've never tried this but couldn't you configure the member server to use NTP and point it to an external NTP server. You would then setup the PDC to use NTP as well and point it to your member server. You might give this article a read: http://www.mmmug.co.uk/files/216/download.aspx
