  • Active Directory shutsdown after 12 hours

I have a Win2003 server acting as DC in a one server environment.

All has been working fine until a few days ago when the server would appear to shutdown Active Directory and would not allow web access or email. The error stated that there was not enough space when i tried to use the Active Directory and USers MMC snapin.

A reboot of the server rectifies the problem for a short time, then I am back to square one.

I have booted into directory services repair mode, and checked the AD database. All seems to be ok. No errors reported.

    Can any one help?

    Cheers

    What edition/arch/SP of Windows?

Can users continue to login and access shares and other resources, other than email and web resources?

What was the exact error message you got when you tried to run ADUC?

The users can still access resources, but the dns service stops working inthe server.

The error is something like "can't access ADUC, the server is not operational"

I have tried runinning the NTDSutil app, and it reports no errors witht he database.

As far as I am aware, nothing has been changed on the server. Very weird.

I am using Mcafee Vscan Enterprise 8.7.0i as my virus software.

      Can u help?

I am running SP2 in win2003 adv server.

The Event log just states that DNS is not running (this happens after AD appears to stop working).

No alot else that i can see..

What should i be looking for?

          Cheers
