  • Using more than 3Gb of RAM with 32bit 2003

We have Windows 2000 Advanced Server with /PAE in the boot.ini so we can use 8Gb of ram in them.

Can the same thing be done with a 32bit version of Windows 2003 and if so and which version of 2003 will I need.

The reason I need to know this I need to get a new server that will run Webmarshal filtering which will happily run on a 64bit OS and able to use 8Gb of ram, however ISA does not install into a 64bit environment.

We need to use ISA as Webmarhsal does not yet support bypass of upstream proxy, but 3Gb of RAM isnt enough for what we need to do

    Thanks

    Dave

      Hi,

I looked at that article before, but that is not what I am after, by standard a 32bit OS will see anywhere between 3gb - 4gb ram depending on the OS used, with 2000 Adv server, the /PAE switch would allow it to see and adress more than that limit, which is what I am trying to do with Windows 2003 server

You need Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. You use the /PAE switch in boot.ini just as you did in Windows 2000 Server Advanced Server.
