  • Migrating from Win 2000 Srv to Windows 2003 server

I'm going to install a new Windows 2003 server and would like to remove the old Windows 2000 Server that is a Domain Controller today. How do I do this?

How can we do this as easy as possible, I know I have to move som roles and stuff from the Windows 2000 Domain Controller over to the Windows 2003 Additional Domain Controller.

I need a step by step for dummies

If you are just getting rid of the old server then a direct updgrade is the easiest way.

If not prep your domain to 2003 (google adprep), then install a 2nd DC (windows 2003 server).

Move all FSMO roles to your new DC then uninstall AD from your old DC.

        In-place upgrade,

I.E. put the 2003 server CD into your 2000 server and upgrade the OS. So sorry I meant if you are NOT getting rid of your old hardware then do a direct upgrade.
