  • Windows 2003 Server Std

    I am troubleshooting a Windows 2003 Server Std ed. and Client Workstation ( Vista OS). I have the ff errrors/problems:

    1. I can not connect the client to the AD. I double check the DNS settings and made sure the Server has the ff ip settings:, and DNS of On the client side -,, and DNS of

    2. When I run NSLOOKUP, I get this message:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.SAPSERVER.000>nslookup metropolis
    *** Can't find server name for address Non-existent domain
    Server: UnKnown

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.SAPSERVER.000>

    3. I when through the help notes and check list on setting up AD and DNS on help links and check the settings. Everything is set the same as instructed on the help notes.

    I need help!

    Do you have a reverse lookup zone setup???

      From your post it seems to me that you have not specify correct default gateway on your client computer. Check the ip configuration of client. Check that you can ping server from client and from client to server by name and ip address. Register your dns name of client by running ipconfig /registerdns from cmd prompt of client. Again ping server and join client to domain. I remembered in this forums we discuss trouble shooting steps to join client to domain. Search these forums too.
