  • GPO's are not applying or filtering

We have Windows 2003 Servers with Windows XP workstations. I have three GPO's that are configured to add IE Favorites.
    Help Desk
    Virtual Time & Expense
    Platinum Team.

I ran GPUPDATE /FORCE and GPRESULT /V and got this output:

    Applied Group Policy Objects
    -----------------------------
    No Games
    Default Domain Policy
The following GPOs were not applied because they were filtered out
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disable Server Shutdown Reason
    Filtering: Not Applied (Empty)

    No_Internet
    Filtering: Denied (Security)

    Local Group Policy
    Filtering: Not Applied (Empty)

    Accounting Script
    Filtering: Denied (Security)

Does anyone know what may be causing the policies to be skipped? I tripple checked that I am in the correct groups. If they were being filtered out that is one thing but to not even show up puzzles me.

Are the settings in the GPOs user-level or machine-level? Presumably they're user settings.

Are the GPOs linked to an OU which contains the user accounts in question, or linked to the domain? Or...

Have you rebooted the computers in question? Checked the event logs?

I applied the group to the GROUPS OU and filtered in the specific security groups needed. Should I have placed in in the USER OU?

It is linked to the Security Group OU not the User OU as per above.

Yes I have rebooted and the Event Log looks clean.

See if it makes any difference when you link the GPO to the user OU and just use the security groups for filtering (as you probably are now).

That made all the difference. When I linked the GPO to the User group and Filtered out all except the Security Group it worked.

          Thanks for the help.
