  • NTFS permissions problem

    Hi,

i'm having some trouble setting ntfs permissions on one of the computers in my organization.
the computer is a domain member, there are no problems accessing domain resources from it,and yet when i'm trying to set permissions
on local folders, specifically add new domain users to the permission list,
the location (from where i can choose those users) showing only the name of the local computer,i don't see the domain,so i can't add any domain users.

how is that possible? first i tried assign the computer to workgroup and then joined it back to the domain,it didn't help,so i repeated that while changing the computer's name, still no luck..

there are no similar problem at any other computer in the domain.

            Re: NTFS permissions problem

Can you manage the computer from AD? Either way i would disjoin it and re-add it to the domain. Sounds like its lost its trust relationship with the domain.

i already did that, twice,i wrote about it in my first post.
regarding dns,the pc is configured dhcp, and i think, that if there were problems with the dns, then the pc would have problems at least with internet connectivity,
              and it doesn't.

Is there a firewall on the client machine? Turn it off and test, if applicable.

                Have you tried:

                [email protected]

You could also try using sysprep tool. That would remove all SIDs, so you know it will be unique when rejoining to the domain.

there is no firewall...i've tried domain\user and [email protected], didn't work.
                  will try the sysprep...

                    Hopefully, sysprep will work.
