  • Folder access very slow

    Hi,
In our Office we are using the Logon script to drive mapping for all users.
For a user via Logon script I: is mapped. There are 10 folders in that drive. For past 4 days the user experience very slow to access a particular folder in that drive but he can access all other folders in that drive without any issue.
For other users there is no issue on accessing that drive and all the folder.
If i map that drive with some other drive letter say for example H: manually then the user can access faster including that issue folder.

Kindly tell me how to solve this problem that the user can access the folder(XXX) in I: faster.

    Answer are more appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Folder access very slow

Ah, the old "I drive on Win NT 3.51 with Win 3.11 Clients" issue
Should you possibly be using a different setup, please tell us:
    What is the Server OS?
    What is the Client OS?
    Domain or Workgroup?
What did you change 4 days ago (Server and Client)?
Does it matter which PC the user logs on to?
Is there anything significant about the folder -- large size / number of files, perhaps?
Does the user have access to all the files in the folder?
    Are any files encrypted?

                Re: Folder access very slow

And is offline file caching enabled on the server share?

IMHO, unless you need it, turn it off on the client and delete anything that may be in the cache

                  Hi,
The same thing is enabled to the users in that dept. but they can access this without any issue.
But any way as per your words i will change that and let you know.

                  Thanks

                      Re: Folder access very slow

Try adding the Pc to a workgroup and then rejoining it to the domain.

                      If this does not work......

Is there anything relevant being recorded in the event logs on the users Pc when the user tries to access the folder?
Is disk quota enabled on the server?
