  • Cann't access server with rdp

    Hi.
    I have windows server 2003 r2 X64
i can't get access to it with rdp from anyother comp or server on the lan.
remote is enable on remote tab.
windows fw is disable, no other fw is installed.
i ran nod 32 on line scan and found nothing.
ping is fine but telnet gives me an error:could not open connection.
i got access withe teamviewer but that's not the soulotion.
    any ideas?
    Thanx

Does the username you are using have access (is it a member of the remote desktop operators group)?

Can you reboot the server, sounds like the Terminal Server Service has hung.

one of the terminal services was disable but even after enable it and start it ' it won't work.
now all of them are started and even telnet is started/

Re: Cann't access server with rdp

                      Try the following

                      Start/Run
                      Type: mstsc /console

Try entering the servername & IP address in the RDP Connection (not at the same time). In case there is a DNS problem

Is the terminal service, service running ok on the server?

Also see if the following command works from a command prompt:

                      quser /server:<yourservername>
                      for example quser /server:Server1

If this works you can kill active sessions using...

                      reset session <session number ,0,1 or 2> server:<yourservername>
                      for example

                      reset session 1 /server:server1

                      also try this.....

                      From command prompt

                      Type

                      C:\tracert <yourservername>
                      for example C:\tracert Server1

if something is blocking access this will help you identify what IP it is located at....

Also make sure the Teminal Service key is not set to Deny
                      Open Regedit
                      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Terminal Server

Check the entry for fdenyTSconnections - Value should be set to 0

Uncheck the Remote check box and reboot the server.

Re-check the check box and try again.

What happend when you tried this?

When you ping the server is it using IP or servername or both?

What is the error (message pop-up? or event?) on the the user's computer when the user is trying to connect with RDP?
