Unable to Delete Files

  • Unable to Delete Files

    I am using Windows 2003 St. as a file server.
    My all user access all files and folder from file server. I create department wise folder and given acess to perticular folder.

    Problem is maximum user complaint to my files is not deleted.
    Following error showing.
    Cannot delete " file name": It is being used by another person or program
    Close any programs that might be using the file and try again

    But i checked no one can use the files but i dont know why the error showing

    Pls help me.

      Using Computer Management Console, with the shared folders snapin, expand shared folders, and then check 'open files'
      this will tell you which users have which files open for read/write

      You may also need to review your permissions if noone has that particular file open. Remember - permissions are cumulative, with the most restrictive permissions applied, and an explicit deny will always take precedence over an implicit allow...
