  • VPN problem

    Hi,

i've configured a vpn connection on a 2000 server without routing.

when i'm trying to connect from the client side(XP) he's trying to get in with verifying user name and password and than puts me out with a 721 error message.

can anyone tell me why ????

    Thanks allot.

Do you have a firewall between the server and the client ?

If so you need to open

    Inbound TCP 1723
and GRE (Protocol 47 If I remember correctly) in both directions.

    topper

P.S. I'm presuming you are using connection using PPTP.
    * Shamelessly mentioning "Don't forget to add reputation!"

I'm using PPTP with firewall and with the ports open.

It passes the firewall ok but getting stucked at the username password authentiation stage, then puts me out with a 721 error message.

      any more ideas maybe ???

The user is allowed to dial in?
Make sure that the router has the PPTP enabled and not firewall block the traffic.

          Thanks,

the router has the PPTP enabled and the user has dial in rights.
