  • Windows server 2000 Select -> 2003 OEM upgrade

    Hello. I needed to build up a server quickly before I had purchased an OEM. So i used a naughty copy of Windows Server 2000 (Select variant).

    Now I have purchased Windows Server 2003 OEM I want to upgrade the 2000 install but it wont let me as they are different variants.

    Is there a way of editing the current install (via registry/file) without re-formatting so that the 2003 OEM disc will work? I really dont want to re-format as this is the only server/domain controller on the network!

    Or is there another way? (maybe editing the OEM disk) Either way at the end I would like to ensure 2003 is installed with the correct license key.

    Thanks,

    Selestial

    2003 server OEM version is for brand new computers. it can't upgrade the windows 2000.
    i think the retail version can do this.

    any way, trying to edit some files to have the ability to upgrade with the 2003 OEM version would be violation of the Eula agreement of Microsoft.
    Good Luck
