  • Configuring DFS with R2 and non-R2.

    Hi,

I'd like to setup a DFS share on a domain with R2 and non-R2 domain controllers. The domain was first setup on a R2 domain controller. Since R2 implemented new features regarding DFS, am i going to get limitations because of the non-R2 domain controller ?

    Best regards,

    trep

Providing you setup the DFS share using the Distributed File System snap-in rather than DFS Management one, it would be compatible with both. To utilise the enhanced features that R2 provides, you would need to upgrade the non-R2 server to R2, if you need that computer to participate in the DFS replication using the R2's service.
