  • DNS & DHCP problem: DHCP addresses not getting updated in DNS

    Hello,

Since last week we are having strange problem.
renewed IP of host machine not getting updated in DNS.
I restarted DHCP, DNS, did clear cache on DNS no changes has been made recently.
No error logs in DHCP server & in DNS servers.
I have 2 DNS servers and entries of both are in DHCP server which is Windows server 2003 STD.

    Problem is :

When I trying to connect host using name it refuses.
When I try to connect using IT it connects.
    Name resolution prob.
When I perform nslookup it shows existing entry in DNS but actual new entry of IP for that host is different.
    What can be the problem?

    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Amey.

Check your "DNS Dynamic Updates" settings on your DHCP srrver, including the "Discard records when lease is deleted" setting

      Thanks!
I switched option from "Automatically update DNS A and PTR records only if requested by DHCP clients" to "Always Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records " . Will wait for result now.
