  • missing the menu bars

    Hi there,
One of my window 2000 server is missing the Standard Buttons and the menu bar ( File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tool, Help ) when I open the My Computer or a folder. I can't go to Folder > Options because these all are missing. I think that server is infected already.
How can I get these all back or to Folder > Options.

    thanks,

Why do you think it is infected?
    What AV do you have?

          Buy some Anti Virus software

Note for anyone going to complain, this is a j o k e (although I do not consider anything with Norton or Symantec in the name to be real AV software)

          More seriously:
When you scan the server, does it report any viruses?
Have you tried booting from a CD with an up-to-date removal utility such as McAfee's Stinger and running that?

            Re: missing the menu bars

McAfee's "SuperDAT" does a better job. Although it can only be run from a command line and contains way more virus defintions as well as Heurestics than Stinger.exe. Another notable standalone AV scanner is Dr Web. Does a great job of finding virus's/malware. Sophos also do a bootCD. But i believe you need a sophos account in order to download it.

Can you try ALT + T for a laugh?

Also, not sure if these only work for XP but may be worth a try?
