  • isdomainmaster key

    Hi there,

    I'm having 3 servers, 2 DC's both Win2003 and a member server 2000 that was a DC back in the old days.

    1 DC2003=Mailserver
    2 DC2003=Storage
    3 member2000=Storage

    In the 2000 and one of the 2003 servers i have the well know error 8032 browser error.

    Looking at the above registry key, all of the servers report this:

    Isdomainmaster=False
    Maintainserverlist=Yes

    I asume that 1 one the 2003 DC's should be the domainmaster.

    When looking in AD Domains & Trusts, the role Domain Name Operation Master is set to server 2, and is correct. RID & PDC & Infrastructure Operation Master is also server 2, again correct.

    To get rid of these errors and get it right, is it enough to just change this key on server 2 to Yes and reboot? Should i do more? Why isn't this done when performing the changes in the FSMO rules?

    Thanks.

    Marcel
