  • Will web proxy OU affect email distribution group?

A web proxy (Squid) was installed and a domain OU (ProxyGroup) created for most (but not all) users to be proxied. I moved these users into said OU (From the "Users" OU) and set a group policy to adjust their Internet Explorer proxy settings. It's been working great!

My users need several email distribution lists now. I'm concerned it may break the group policy mentioned above, but I am no domain/OU guru.

When I create several new distribution email addresses, will this affect the group policies already in place? I normally create them by right-clicking Users--but most of the users I need to create distribution for are now in the ProxyGroup OU. To visualize this--

In AD, my organization is as follows:
    +Domain
    +Builtin
    +Computers
    +DomainControllers
    +ForeignSecurityPrincipals
    +ProxyGroup
    +Users
Let me know if you need more information, or if my terminology is off, and thanks in advance!

Why would a distribution list break your GPO???

All a distributuion list is is basically that a list that a user can send an email to say [email protected] and a list of people get that email.

IMO it won't affect your GPO's
