  • Rogue DHCP Server.....

I have a 2003 Server w/ Exchange 2003. Today someone lost internet and network access. I ran ipconfig on the PC and it showed "mshome.net" as the DNS Suffix. Her IP looked fine. I release and renewed and it didn't come back up with an IP. Rebooted and she was fine.

Any easy tools out there that would help me identify this 2nd dhcp server? I tried uses dhcploc.exe and i just can't seem to get it to work.

    Thanks.

grab the ARP address you're getting the ip address from, and then interrogate your switch if it's manageable ?

My last job, i remember one of the directors talking about someone who had setup a vrtual guest on their workstation, adn then dcpromo'd it.. took out the entire floor..

Is anybody getting an address from the rogue DHCP? If so, then a simple IPCONFIG /ALL will tell you the DHCP Server IP address.

hehe.. but not which physical machine it is necessarily

although you did go right for the simple direct solution.. where as I went for the dig-into-the-network solution..
