  • Installation of SQL 2K SP 4 manually on Server that is a member of WSUS

    Hi all,

We use WSUS 3.0 on a Win 2003 AD environment and configured as follows:

In WSUS, under the All Computer we have Groups setup with names Servers, Computers, Laptops, TestComputers, TestLaptops, TestServers.

Under AD we have similar groups and use GPO with Client-side targeting to put the Server, computers & laptops on the appropriate group on WSUS.

We have a old legacy system running on Win 2K SP 4 / SQL Server 2K SP3. Being an old hardware, I had to move the above systems on to a relatively better server. The new Server has been detected by WSUS and reporting fine.

Now I wanted to install the latest Service Pack for SQL Server 2K which is SP 4, but it seems that WSUS cannot find it if I try to Import from WSUS console. However, I could manually download it from the Microsoft site.

Since the Server is a member of the WSUS, can there be any problem interacting with WSUS later, if I manually install the Service Pack from the Server Console.

    Cheers,

    Pankajb
