  • Can no longer RDP

Hi, hope this is the correct forum, I done a P2V conversion of a Windows 2003 Server to ESX, everything seems fine apart from the fact that I can no longer use RDP to connect to the server remotely

I did remove all the ghost nics on the virtual machine

anyone shed any light on this

    thanks

    Re: Can no longer RDP

Have you checked that 'Remote Desktop' is still enabled? What RDP client are you using? There is the possibility that the server level authentication is failing with it being on different hardware/virualised, so you could look into lowering the security level temporarily, to see if a connection occurs. That is set in the same location as 'remote desktop'.

You can also check to see if terminal services is running on it by using the qwinsta command:

        qwinsta /server:servername

this should show you if the rdp-tcp listener is on on the box
