  • DHCP Duplicate IP errors on stale systems

When we boot a computer that hasnt been on the network for a few weeks, or if vendors come and plug in. We are getting intermitent Duplicate IP on the network errors.
I have a few time just deleted the lease from the DHCP that corrects it and they grab the same IP.
or I do a release renew and the also grab the same IP.
I havent been able to find any evidence that there are actually duplicates.
its too many and to random to be a rougue static.
    Any ideas?

    Server 2003

    Thanks

    Hi,

Can you first check that you haven't got more than one DHCP that can issue Ip configuration on the same scope.
Also have a look at the DhcpSrvLog usually located in c:\windows\system32\dhcp\
