  • rpc server is not availble ? why?

    Hello People

I have a RRAS single-Nic Windows 2003 SP2 member server; all worked as with no problems at all.

Suddenly, when trying to login remotely to this server (not as vpn client !) I have recieved to get that 'RPC Server is not Available" notuce, etc, etc; the RRAS services stopped, too.
    Any help, please?

    thanks in advance

Do you have virus protection on your server ?

          Thks Tecamel

Yes - we have an anti-virus (agent on this server) - but we have it since 11 motnhs, at least ;why this might be the source of this issue?

Any chance of you pasting the event here? Use the 'notepad' looking symbol on the evet itself and then Ctrl-V to paste it on to here.

I think this might be due to to SNP, it causes all manner of odd networking problems. Check here for a hotfix to turn it all off and here for more information on the potential issues caused by SNP.

Re: rpc server is not availble - now it is o.k

                    Hi people

                    As nothing had help, I begun to "suspect" network configuration problem;
so I did steps as follows:

                    1. Delete all network services and confgiurations -Dns,ip's ,Wins, etc
                    2. Disable RRAS service
                    3. Restarting the server

                    4. Enter the server in local Adminstrator account
                    5. Re-Configure the network services and configurations (mentioned above)
                    6. Restarting the server

                    7. Enter the server in Domain Adminstrator account
                    8. Reataring the RPC service
9.Restating RRAS service (now - successfully)

                    now all is OK

(But, I still have to find the reason for all that sudden, enexpected misfunctions...)

Thank you all so much for kind help
