  • Disk Quota Limit at Windows 2000 Advanced Server

    Hi......

I tried to enfore disk quota limit at windows 2000 advanced server but it could not record the quota size for each user (I got it from Quota Entries in the amount used field). But I have ever successfully enforced the disk quota limit at windows xp professional.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem as I want to enforce the disk quota limit at windows 2000?

    Thanks,
    Alen

      Hii,

There is no error appear while enforcing disk quota limit. The problem was the system did not calculate the amount used.
I post the two following screen shots, the first one uses win 2000 server and the other uses win xp.
At the two system, I have added user Alen Hidayat (highlighted) and create files at both systems using this user. At win xp, the amount used of this user increased after I create files. But not at win 2000 server, the amount is still 0 (zero).
What's happened with win 2000 server?

      Thanks,
      Alen

Even admins show up on the list as used amounts. It just wont stop them. Is Alan the owner of the files?

The problem was happened not just for user alen, but the other users have same problem like that (on windows 2000).

              Hellooo,

              Can anyone help me?
I still can not enfore the quota limit.
The information about the amount of harddisk space used by each user could not be updated by system.

              Thanks,
              Alen

                GPO
                Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Disk Quotas

If you enable this policy, disk quota limits are enforced.
If you disable this policy, disk quota limits are not enforced.
When you enable or disable the policy, the system disables the Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit option on the Quota tab so administrators cannot change the setting while a policy is in effect.

If the policy is not configured, the disk quota limit is not enforced by default, but administrators change the setting.
Enforcement is optional. When users reach an enforced disk quota limit, the system responds as though the physical space on the volume were exhausted. When users reach an unenforced limit, their status in the Quota Entries window changes, but they can continue to write to the volume as long as physical space is available.

                Note
This policy overrides user settings that enable or disable quota enforcement on their volumes.

This policy is effective only when disk quota management is enabled on the volume. Also, if disk quotas are not enforced, users can exceed the quota limit you set. When users reach the quota limit, their status in the Quota Entries window changes, but users can continue to write to the volume.

Default quota limit and warning level
This policy applies to all new users as soon as they write to the volume. It does not affect disk quota limits for current users or affect customized limits and warning levels set for particular users (on the Quota tab in Volume Properties).
