  • Desktop isn't loading

    Hi:

We're using Windows 2003 server. When one logs in, the desktop doesn't log in and one has to CTRL+ALT+DEL to task manager, begin new task and then run C:\Windows\explorer.exe to get the desktop. It was working fine this morning and then suddenly

Any ideas what's wrong and how to fix it?

    Thanks
    Neeraj

    Re: Desktop isn't loading

I found this would happen to me when my server would crash (run out of memory). The only way around it, until I found the bad software, was to reboot.

It would allow people to stay connected, but as soon as anyone logged off and logged back in the same problem as you describe.

If you can get in check the task manager and event logs and let us know what you find.

What roles does the server have?

Only a DHCP and Terminal Server. Was working fine till yesterday, then suddenly it started...apparently after some software guy made some changes in the hospital management software that it is running.

Were you able to fix it?

          Did a reboot change anything?
