Looking at the list of updates, you have to ask yourself what Microsoft are playing at?

American Flag Screensaver -- hardly a mission critical fix to the operating system! (oops -- re-read it and it is "Microsoft American Flag" -- has Bill finally bought the country to escape the lawsuits?)

Macromedia Shockwave Player -- do we all want this? If so, why not go to Macromedia directly?

IMHO they have lost the point of what a "service pack" is for!

For one thing this update file is not from Microsoft, it is a third party app created by someone else. It was an update file created by someone to try and give everyone one file with all of the updates and some extra stuff that they thought that users may like.

This file is NOT service pack 2 from Microsoft.

Windows XP SP2 RC1 is now available for download from Microsoft.

There are issues with installing it so make sure that if you do fully test all of your apps and connections first before deploying. (Obviously this rule applies to any major update)

So far we have found issues with our company VPN Cisco connection software and CA Antivirus.

I will keep you posted on any other issues and solutions we find.

                  All the best.
If at first you dont succeed, Google it!

                    Paul,
Were the issues you were having related to default ICF configuration of SP2 ? Does disabling the ICF through group policy resolves it ?
