Re: 3 subnet and 1 dc

In your case, because you have only one DC, you won't use AD Sites & Services. All clients on all subnets will authenticate to the DC on the 172.16.10.0 subnet. If you want clients to authenticate with a local DC then you'll need to set up a DC on each of the other subnets. At that point you'll use AD Sites & Services to set up the sites and DC's.

As Joe says, you can't use AD Sites and Services unless you have 1 DC per site. If you continue to just have the 1 DC, you don't need to do anything with AD Sites and Services.

              Actually thats not quite true.

You can setup sites and services without DC's in the Sites and the clients will find the closest DC to logon to. This happened to us when the clients were logging onto a server on the other side of the world sue to someone putting it in our site.

This can and will slow down your logon times though.
