  • Setting up DNS and DHCP in Child Domain

Can I setup DNS and DHCP server in a child domain? If I can, how do I achieve that without using the root DNS and DHCP servers. Thanks.

    Yes you can.

Now, do you want a more specific answer?

If so, please ask a specific question. You know the drill.

DHCP needs no ties to "parent" domain's, they are network\subnet specific. This can be installed and setup with no issues.

DNS though will need to either replicate root domain information for your child domain, or you could setup as DNS forwarders. You child domain needs to access DNS information about it's parent domain.

One addition: in order to authorize your DHCP you will need an Enterprise Admin (forest root!) unless this has been delegated.
