  • 2003 server file server and "file in use"

I have a problem with a windows 2003 file server and a word 2007 document. User A opens the document and starts editing it. User B opens the same document and it gets the "file is in use by user C", even though it is user A who has the file open.

A check on the server for open files reveals the correct info, user A has the doc open. Any ideas? My search didn't come up with anything.

Have you asked user C when they last opened the file. There may be a temp. file left behind, the ones with a tild symbol at the end of the name. ~

It looks like deleting the .tmp file fixed it. Word must have crashed at some point and didn't delete this.
