    I want to know how to remove the msn messenger from my computer?

  • #2
    From run enter the following:
    RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    Alernative method:
    Search for sysoc.inf. It should be located in the "%systemroot%\inf\"
    (Copy "%systemroot%\inf\ and paste into run to make it quick)

    Edit the file with notepad.

    Locate the line that looks like the following:
    msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

    Remove the word "hide".

    It should now look like this:
    msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

    Save the changes

    Open Add or Remove Programs

    Click on Add/Remove Windows Components and you can remove MSN Messenger. There are two services to remove everything.

    Either way should do it for ya. I have tried both and found both results successful. Just make sure to terminate the program first.

      Just a small correction - not MSN messenger - WINDOWS MESSENGER.

      MSN Messenger does not install itself by default. Only WINDOWS MESSENGER comes on XP.

      As for the removal - It's best to disable, not remove, the messenger. Removal will cause specific system tools to stop working.

          Uninstalling Windows Messenger can disable some of the messenger features such as Whiteboard Sharing and even Remote Assistence, and others on MSN Messenger if you're using that.

          It will also cause Outlook Express to take longer to load.

          I rather disable it, not uninstall it.
