  • How do I find out what shares/folders a particular user has access to?

    Here's my situation:

Previous admins did not always use security groups to provide permissions to folders/shares on our file server and there are hundreds (probably thousands) of folders on our main file server.

My problem is that I've been asked to find out what folders/shares a particular user in our company has access to. I can easily provide what security groups this person is in, but how can I find out if that user was solely added to certain folders/shares? Is there a way to do this? TIA.

Have a look at DumpSec from Somardoft.

This will allow you to get the NTFS permissions from all your folders. Imoprt into a spreadsheet and manipulate from there.

    Download from here

SysInternals' AccessCHK is also a good option. And free.
