    hi,

on my windows server 2003, i have some files in shared folders. is there a way of setting something like a record file to show you which file was modified last and by whom without taking a lot of space on your server ? Thanks

You can enable 'Object Access' auditing and configure the required files/directories you want to audit.
Doing so will log an entry in the security event log every time a user accesses the object.
