  • Outbound connections from Win 2003 to SQL Server2000

I have an SQL Server 2000 that I can connect to from my workstation using an ODBC connection. But when I try to connect from a Windows 2003 server, I get SQL Server connectivity errors. Some configurational setting on the Windows 2003 box is preventing outbound traffic. There are no firewalls either. What could be preventing me from being able to connect?

Maybe you could tell us exactly what error you're getting, in full.

What OS is SQL running on? What service packs are each copy of Windows and SQL running? Are all three fully up to date? Do the event logs on either server say anything?
