I am starting to see a trend of viruses (mostly trojan.downloader/backdoor) along with some awsome spyware. Is there anyone else having this problem? If so I might submit a walk-through to Daniel on How to remove some of these common pains. Let me know Thanks.

    AdAware 6.0?
    Spybot Search and Destroy?
Google Toolbar will stop almost all unwanted popups.

What kind of walkthrough would you give that would be better than either of those programs?

Just a small point, Google Toolbar is also spyware. The following makes an interesting read, especially down the page. http://www.google-watch.org/bigbro.html

My apologies for going off topic. Daniel is obviously the one who would say yes or no to your "How to remove" walk-throughs being put perhaps in a "Sticky", but I would sure like a copy for my own use. Like many, I am painfully aware of my deficiencies in the security area.

The google toolbar in advanced mode is spyware, but it tells you that right up front. You can't miss the fact during the install that it says "Enable advanced features (And send info to google) or Disable Advanced Features (nothing will be sent to google)"
I said that it would stop popups, which it does in both modes, which means that it is not spyware if used with Advanced Features disabled.

Well... ok... Although the question wasn't ever really "what do I use to get rid of spyware/viruses?" I suppose your replies have help others.

            Good job.

However if there is anyone who read the original post and would still like to achive nirvana let me know.

One last thing... I personaly use the google toobar it's great, however read down that beautiful EULA and read the part that allows google to upgrade "thier software" not a bad way to implement some hidden features after the toolbar gets really popular.
