  • Access Denied when Sync'ing Offline Files

So I have GPO to enable Offline Files for my users

When users create documents outside of the network and try to Sync they get the following error:

I found this MS Article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/275461

But it looks like the previous admin configured it correctly. He gave the "Everyone" group full control of the MyDocs folder (the root folder)

    Any other ideas?

I wrote this for someone a while back, should help you with regards to the permissions for the mydocs$ directory.

On your gpo it will be better to enable the options that are disabled, u might want to try this in a test environment first.

I do tend to think 'outside the box' so others may not always share the same views.

So I set everything exactly as listed and I am still having issues. Any help? Any info I could provide? Here are some screenshots from my file server

The gbriggs folder doesn't have system in the list, you need to have system as full control.

I have it set in the root folder as full control for all subfolders, looks like the permission didnt carry across. Whats the easiest way to reset all the permissions?

Enter the ACL entry for system manually with that one. Any new profiles created will have the proper permissions.

SYSTEM won't fix it. I've never assigned SYSTEM to any user folders.

Any chance you're using a DELL?

Here is a test account I setup. It populated those permissions, adding the SYSTEM as FC, but still won't work. yes I am using a Dell & I uninstalled the Embassy Trust Suite Already

Make sure of that then try syncing in Safe Mode. If you still have problems I would blow away the cache and rebuild.

Offline Files > CTRL + SHIFT + Delete Files > Yes

I could try that tomorrow, but I have even tested this on a brand new laptop still same issue

When u said that your test didn't work, did u get the same error as before?

The permissions in my screenshot works for me. Might be worth manually assigning them to the gbriggs account and see if that fixes it.

trying to re initialise the offline cache would be worth a shot.
