Is the DNS Server service running on the server having the problems?

Can you provide an "ipconfig /all" please?

Have you checked your authoritative DNS server for the host record for dc.abc.com ??

if dc.abc.com is a domain controller in the abc.com domain then you could try to restart the netlogon service then try ipconfig/registerdns of the dc.abc.com server, and additionally u could try the netdiag/fix command.

Hi, have you checked your dns servers, via the dns console, checked everything is up and running?
Check the dns server that hosts the abc.com forward lookup zone.
Like sk said, check the dns server service is started.
                        could also try
                        net stop dns
                        net start dns
