  • Securing communication between DMZ Win 2K3 servers and Internal servers.

I'm trying to find out the best way and the How to secure communication between some Win2k3 ent servers on a DMZ and SQL servers on the Internal network. I was given a suggestion to put all servers on the dmz on a workgroup or a separate forest, use certificates between servers and use IPsec. Also to use the following:

    DMZ
    Firewall---| Win2k3 servers |----Firewall----internal network---ISA----SQL servers.

A firewall protecting the DMZ, a firewall protecting the internal network and ISA to filter traffic before it gets to the internal servers.

Is this the best way? Any other ideas? Can someone suggest how-to articles on how to accomplish this? With so much protection, how is performance affected?

Please provide as much detail as possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.
