  • implmenting new password complexity policy into the domain

    Hi Folks,

Just a quick question. I am just about starting to look in to rolling out a new password complexity gpo policy. If I roll out this gpo based on one small departments ou how will it come in to being?. What i mean is.... If I apply the policy will the user be asked at next logon to change their password to one that meets the complexity requirements or will ihave to wait for the users password to expire befoer it will come into effect for each user of that ou?

or... worst case scenario... their old password doesnt now comply and they can't log in at all (which I cant imagine would be the case) but always worth checking!!!

    many thanks for any help!.

you should edit the default domain policy to apply the password complexity.
This can't be done on OU level within Windows 2000 en Windows 2003.

The policy will apply the next time the user need to change his password.
Of course you can force this by enabling the change password at next logon in the useraccount properties.

    ps,
For deploying the dotnetframework you might have a look at this:
