  • Event Logs Permissions

    Hi,

I have a windows 2003 server on a workgroup (no domain).

I am trying to give a single user permissions only to view the Event Logs.

I looked at the link below and tried to figure it out without success.
What is "SDDL" and how do I work with it ?

The link I followed id: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;323076

    Any help is appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Michael

    Re: Event Logs Permissions

Add him to a privileged group.

Honestly - that will in the end give you far less grief and difficulty than trying to set custom permissions on Event Logs. It's a GUI function that Microsoft deemed unnecessary when they designed the OS and therefore it's a complete minefield and very difficult to achieve (and to understand what you did when you've finished).
