  • WSUS Installation issue

    Hi all,

I needed to DCPROMO /forceremoval 2 DC on our domain because of a replication problem and IIS was installed for WSUS3 sp1. Now that the replication problem is solved, I need to deal with WSUS (I just learn that when IIS is installed, you don't play around with DCPROMO)...

I wasn't able to connect to my WSUS servers. I tried to uninstall WSUS3 on one server (without uninstalling the Database). It was removed from Add/Remove Prog. but failed in the process. I then uninstalled the Windows Internal Databse from A/R Prog. I Uninstalled/Reinstalled IIS, deleted the Update Services folder and the WSUS folder manually. I also deleted a few keys in the Registry that stated WSUS or Update Services (I've done a backup of the registry before doing that).

I also had a problem with this Event after promoting my servers to DC again:

I solved this by granting Full Control to the Network Service over the Microsoft.NET folder.

Now I try to install WSUS3 and near the end, it fails with the following errors:

    Re: WSUS Installation issue

I ALSO HAD 2 PERFLIB ERRORS:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Perflib
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1005
    Date: 2008-08-29
    Time: 10:11:27
    User: N/A
    Computer: TBON01
    Description:
Windows cannot access the file 轸쩈粂轸郈 for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program C:\WINDOWS\system32\sqlctr90.dll because of this error.
    Program: C:\WINDOWS\system32\sqlctr90.dll
    File: 轸쩈粂轸郈
The error value is listed in the Additional Data section.
    User Action
    1. Open the file again. This situation might be a temporary problem that corrects itself when the program runs again.
    2. If the file still cannot be accessed and
    - It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.
    - It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.
    3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.
    4. If the problem persists, restore the file from a backup copy.
    5. Determine whether other files on the same disk can be opened. If not, the disk might be damaged. If it is a hard disk, contact your administrator or computer hardware vendor for further assistance.
    Additional Data
    Error value: MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE
    Disk type: %4

    Computer: TBON01
    Description:
Performance counter data collection from the "MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE" service has been disabled due to one or more errors generated by the performance counter library for that service. The error(s) that forced this action have been written to the application event log. The error(s) should be corrected before the performance counters for this service are enabled again.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I read somewhere that someones had to rebuild the performance library. Could this really help?

    Please, help?
    Thank you.
