  • Server 2003 R2 and FSRM

I recall back novell having a disk feature that hides(mask) the total disk size from users. Basically you could allocate a 1TB volume but allow users to only see 500GB.

Does this feature exist with R2?

    Thanks

Don't think so, at least I haven't heard of it if it does exist. Don't know what your ultimate goal is, but I think the closest thing Windows 2003 can do for you is implementing disk quotas.

Well the ultimate goal is to save disk space. We've yet to implement archiving on file server side, and of course there's political issues to be addressed like users backing up their local drives to the server. Quotas are a good start and I read that FSRM has a file screening feature as well.
