    Re: WSUS - no clients

Assuming you are in a domain, have you created a group policy to tell your clients to use your WSUS insted of the Microsoft Updates servers?

That's the key. Clients need to know they need what update server they need to look at for updates.

      Yes, added that gpo,
actually we were working with the same gpo and wsus of other company,
i just changed the url to the server name, i can also access the cabs test that all web pages ask you to perform and all is ok.
      but still no clients.
      Thanks & Regards

Have you ensured that anonymous access has been granted to the clients? I had a similar issue and that solved it for me.

          Hi Retaliator

One of the other reasons could be that the machine hosting the WSUS server is not registered in the DNS properly.
You could modify the GPO settings with the WSUS servers IP address instead and see if you get any joy.

Without anonymous access how would i be able to browse to the cab files?

                Re: WSUS - no clients

http://orion:8530 is the URL clients should be pointing to? If it is then your GPO is missing the port off the URL.

I'm sorry - I was confusing this with a different issue where clients were unable to download updates.

The GPO as setup in my screenshot has always been that way. Everything works fine, though it did take me a while to get it working when I first set it up.

Sorry, I skimmed over this thread

If you force an update is there an error logged in event viewer on the client machine?

                        Re: WSUS - no clients

Have a look at this article I found in WSUS Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/athif/archiv..._80072efd.aspx

Basically the clients use Winhttp proxy settings to access the WSUS server.
This is different than the Proxy settings used in IE. If the later is configured in IE and the WinHTTP proxy is set to null (In your case) then the above error occurs.

Anyways, have a look at the article and see if the workaround does the trick for you.

                        Cheers

Well, at least we are going somewhere.

According to the new error code it looks more like a permissions issue.
Can you double check the IIS and NTFS permissions on the WSUS are the same as the ones in the article below?
