  • Having a single domain

Scenario: 9 sites 7 of the sites have DCís each site is it's own separate domain/forest

    Breakdown:
4 of the sites have WIN2K3
3 of the sites have WIN2K
2 of do not have DC at all.

Again each site has its own domain. Ex: example.ddc, WCD.ddc ( although it seems to be a child domain of .ddc they do not know the other exists.

So what I think I can do is
1: do an in-place upgrade for the win2k dcís to win2k3
    a) Once all are running win2k3 then I can start on a level playing field.

2: add the 2 sites that do not have dcís with win2k3 and create a temp domain

3: now create a new domain (ex: newdomain.com)
    a) Then using ADMT migrate the users form one site at a time to Ex: example.newdomain.com and removing the old domain example.ddc

Anyone's thoughts!! Good, BAD or other suggestions are welcome

Sounds ok to me, your basically trying to make all 7 severs be part of the same forest for eaiser management I guess?

I would use newdomain.local though. Keep it seperate from your internet TLD.
