  • Print server

    Hi all,

I have a windows 2003 sp2 print server with 5 printers connected but for some reason there is no tick box to list in the directory?

On some of our other servers under the sharing tab the option to list in the directory is there.

    Any ideas?

    Re: Print server

Check if the REG_DWORD value of the 'PublishPrinters' entry in the registry on the printserver is set to 1 (value 1 should be the Default value!! )
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers

There could be a policy applied to this server that (once) changed this setting to 0 (or, the entry might have been deleted).

Google for 'allow printers to be published' if you like to control this configuration by GPO.

Probably asking the bleeding obvious, but the server IS a member of the domain, isn't it?

it was a GPO problem, somewhere along the line an admistrator blocked the right to publish printers. thanks all!
