  • New DC's/ Existing Domain

Promoting a second DC seems to cause a misconfiguration on the first DC I promoted.

    Win2k3 Server standard SP2

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

        What misconfiguration does it cause??

Many more details needed before we can even contemplate an answer for you.

Promoted many machines and i think i've had 2 failures.

Check the network settings on the newly promoted DC and make sure you have the right settings. The DNS address will be very important, but depending on your set-up I can't give you much more info yet.

What is the problem that you see when you promote the second DC? Did you do anything other than promote the server? (i.e. did you transfer any roles?)

Didn't do anything but promote the server and thats what baffling me. After dcpromo, went into sites and services and noticed that both were there and that the one didn't have NTDS under it. Then after a bit it totally disappeared.

            WTF!
