  • Win2003 64bit and SQL Server 2005 64bit memory allocation

We purchased a Dell Blade (M600, dual socket - quad core, 32GB RAM). The OS we are running is Windows 2003 Server x64. We are also running SQL Server 2006 64bit as the primary application. The DBA's have allotted 30GB to SQL and 2GB to the OS. There is a *lively* discussion about the amount of memory the OS should receive.

I have not found any "best practises" document or white paper discussing how memory should be allocated. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
