  • Logon Problems With 2 Dc. Help

    Hello.

Iīve two Windows 2003 std Domain controllers, but when the second domain controller itīs down, the major part of clients canīt logon.

Why the other DC does not provide the logon for clients?
Are there, some way to check in wich of the DC are the clients connected (logon)?
The logon process in this scenario donīt shoul be redundant?
How can i check, in the DC, how many or wich clients computers are logged?
The two servers do not do Active directory access load balance?

Iīm sorry for the quantity of questions, but i'm driving nut.

    Thanks for something.

AFAIK, this is because the clients cache the DNS SRV records relevant to locating a DC and GC in the domain. Until the TTL expires for these records in the client DNS cache they will continue to try and contact the first DC. How long are you waiting after shutting down one DC before logging on the client?

Once the user has logged on, open a CMD prompt and type "set" then look for the line that says "LOGONSERVER"
