  • Windows 2000 Server - disable search for printers

I have an old Windows 2000 member server on the network used for ERP. I would like to disable the server searching and installing network printers.

In Windows 2000 there is the setting “Automatically Search for Network Folders and Printers” that can be disabled but it soes not exist in Windows 2000 Server. Is there a registry hack available to do this?

    Thanks,

    Open My Computer
    Tools--Folder Options
    Select View Tab
Untick "Automatically Search for network folders and printers"

Have you actually verified that setting exists in Windows 2000 Server? I know it exits in Windows 2000 Professional but I so not have that option in Windows 2000 Server SP4.

      Thanks

I read your original post as Server 2003.
No, you are right, it does not exist in Server 2000
