    Hi,


    Is there any utility / command line by which we can find out reitire server(dc which decommisioned) from the domain and still exist in metadata.

    ntdsutil should do it

    I've used this link more times than I'd like to admit and its always worked for me.

      As far as I know there is no such command to list unsuccessfully demoted DCs but there are couple of tools which can do that. The one I have used is ADST (AD snap-shot tool) from MS. It checks each and every directory aspect on all the DCs individually.

        The reason I suggested NTDSUTL was that allows you to connect to any dc and list all the dc's it knows about. I've used it at a few client site to get rid of dc's that had been turned off or failed.
